Sunday, April 20, 2025 (SDU) – Additional details are emerging about a heavy attack carried out last night by the Al-Shabaab militant group on positions held by the Somali National Army and NISA (National Intelligence and Security Agency) in the Ceelasha Biyaha area on the outskirts of Mogadishu.
The attack reportedly began with explosions, followed by direct combat between the two sides, in which various types of weapons were used.
The fighting is said to have caused varying degrees of casualties, including deaths and injuries on both sides, though the exact extent of the damage and casualties remains unknown.
There has been no official statement from the Somali Federal Government’s security agencies regarding the casualties resulting from last night’s fighting in Ceelasha Biyaha.
This attack comes amid a recent surge in Al-Shabaab operations targeting government military outposts in several towns and districts across central and southern Somalia.
